The Saint and the City
The city got its name when Spanish colonists named it from the Spanish saint, San Diego de Alcala. It is a major city in the state of California and is a top tourist city in the country. The metropolis is known for its mild year-round weather, far-reaching beaches and its natural deep harbors.

Top Attractions to Visit
San Diego is home to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park which houses over 4,000 animals of more than 650 rare and exotic species and subspecies. The safari park highlights it rare giant pandas, endangered sun bears, New Zealand kiwis and Galapagos tortoises. The park also features a Children’s zoo which includes a nursery of baby animals and a widely held petting area where you can cuddle a sheep or a goat.


You can also climb aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Midway, for an escapade for the whole family. The ship was put to action during the Vietnam War and also served through the Persian Gulf. You can visit the flight deck with the aircraft, wander through the gallery, tour the engine room, walk through the sleeping quarters of the sailors and check out the exhibits the vessel features.

Also, consider going to Legoland if you have kids from 2-12 years old. The park features shows, rides, and attractions attributing the worldly known colorful and imaginative blocks. In there, you can view a miniature depiction of seven cities constructed with over 20 million Lego bricks.

Lounge in the sun
Mission Beach is the top beach to visit in San Diego. It has over two miles of immaculate coastline. You can stroll along the boardwalk while biking and walking.  You can also take a walk along the Coronado Beach shorelines which was made famous by the Marilyn Monroe film “Some Like It Hot” in the late 1950’s. Lastly, you can visit Pacific Beach which is widely known as “the Strand”. It is the most popular beach in San Diego and always draws large crowds at peak times during the year.

Shop till you drop
There are also several malls to shop around in San Diego. One of them is Fashion Valley, the two-story mall is easy to find and has a sheer variety of stalls to look around. Seaport village is also a top shopping mall to visit. The 14-acre waterfront village has over 50 specialty shops and galleries.
